Where the timeless desert meets a transforming “Arabia”. With giant modern developments and old souks, Doha is a place where Oriental dreams are reinvented or never quite forgotten – and fascinating. As a shopping stopover for two or three days, or as a place to stretch out by the pool for a week, we can recommend it from personal experience. One of our favourite shopping malls is Villagio, inspired by the canals of Venice, with a really good selection of brands including, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, H&M, Zara, Foot Locker, Loccitane and more... In Villagio there are also countless dining options. Another good place to shop and dine is the man-made island, The Pearl. Or go more traditional with Souk Waquif. To get under the skin of Arabic culture in this constantly growing modern city – it is worth a visit to the spectacular Museum of Islamic Art. With good reason, Doha is now a popular stopover to and from Sri Lanka, the Maldives and the Seychelles.
